Foods That Build Muscle

foods that build muscle

Foods that build muscle and the term "superfood" can safely be used together. Protein is obviously important, but getting all the nutrients and antioxidants out of food is a huge piece of the puzzle as well.

Check out the foods below and start eating them regularly if you don't already.

The Top 5 Foods For Eating To Build Muscle Mass

  • Beans

Beans are the magical fruit and they are top on my list of foods that build muscle. They are a nutrient-packed superfood and they are cheap, easy to prepare, and awesome.

They are full of protein and antioxidants... as well as complex carbs and fiber.

Beans are what Popeye ate in real life. You need to be eating them if you're serious about your health and building muscle.

Not only are they great for putting on pounds of muscle, but if you search the word "superfood", beans are usually number one on the list...but they're always on the list.

One of my favorite ways to eat them is simply a can of baked beans or pork and beans. There are also numerous recipes for them all over the net that you can find.

  • Meat

Red meat is one of my favorites and one of the best natural protein sources you can utilize. Its best to partake of red meat a few times a week, and you'll want to use lean cuts such as eye round roast or top sirloin steak.

If you're going to be cooking a lot of meat such as steak, chicken, and fish... you should get a George Foreman Grill. My little George is my best friend and I have used him for years.

Yes...even I prefer to cook on a regular grill, but you can cook a chicken breast on a Foreman before your real grill has even heated up. Its a fast way to cook those breasts and steaks.

  • Chicken

Of course chicken would be on the list...don't eat the skin though unless its your free day.

An awesome, simple dipping sauce for grilled chicken breast is just some white vinegar mixed with soy sauce.

One of the best ways to eat chicken is Kentucky Fried or Church's Chicken...not.

That was a joke, don't eat KFC unless of course its your free day...then you can eat whatever the hell you want.

  • Fish

Fish is one of the best foods that build muscle. The protein in fish is highly digestible and comes with healthy fatty acids.

If you can, try to eat fish 2 or 3 times a week. If you like fishing, you're set. Just keep 2 or 3 fish from each weekend trip and eat them throughout the week.

If you don't fish, no big deal...just buy some at the store.

A fool-proof method for cooking fish and making it easy is it to wrap the fish in tinfoil after you've seasoned it, and put it on the grill or in the oven for 25-30 minutes. The skin and bones will effortlessly peel away from the delicious flesh.

  • Fruit

Fruit is an important part of foods that build muscle because they will give you the nutrients and antioxidants to make your cells repair themselves faster and help your body utilize the protein you've ingested.

Fruit smoothies are a great way to get your servings in each day.

My post workout drink is 2 scoops of protein, and a half cup of frozen berries. It tastes great and is muscle building nutrients.

One of my other genius ideas to get all your fruit servings each day is to buy those Odwalla 32 oz. fruit smoothies at Costco and then I just drink a serving with a few of my meals.
