A lot of people think that there is one best exercise to lose belly fat. That is a BIG misconception.

The truth is, doing just ab exercises DOES NOT get rid of belly fat. There is no single exercise, technique, pill, or diet that only targets belly fat.

Getting rid of belly fat takes a complete lifestyle change, including eating habits and workout habits.

The bad news is, even most people at the gym aren't really doing anything to decrease their body fat. Body fat is SUPER STUBBORN. Especially belly fat.

The only way to do it is decrease your total body fat percentage. And how do you do that?

The simple answer is you need to burn more calories than you put in your body every day. MOST people don't workout at all. Then, you have about 40% of the population that has a gym pass or does some other type of exercise.

Now, before I go on, just doing any exercise should be applauded. Our country is so unhealthy that I commend anyone who makes the effort to work out at all. AND, you don't need to do killer workouts to improve your heart function.

Just jogging 20-30 minutes 3 times a week will improve your cardio health a lot. BUT.... it will not strip off body fat.

The best exercise to lose belly fat is to do short, intense workouts 4-5 times a week. This type of workout is called a circuit workout.

I never made any real progress with losing body fat until I started doing these types of workouts.

The way these work is, you choose a few different exercises, and then you do each one for a set amount of time and then instantly switch to the next one with no break in between. You do five or so exercises in a row, rest for a minute, and then do the circuit again.

So a simple example would be:

-1 minute of pushups

-1 minute of crunches

-1 minute of jumping up and down

-1 minute of up/downs

So you don't rest in between these four exercises, then after the up/downs you rest for no longer than 1 minute, then you do it again four or five times.

These type of workouts are working your muscles and your heart at the same time and they are BRUTAL. And they burn fat 2-3 times faster than normal cardio.

Once you get used to a simple circuit like that, you can add in big exercises like squats, deadlifts or sprints to make them even more punishing.
